Simply Christians

We are simply Christians (Acts 11:26), without denominational names and practices. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and follow it as our authority in religion. The Bible contains all that the Christian is to believe (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and therefore we have no human creeds to set forth doctrine.

The Authority of Christ

We accept Jesus Christ as Lord and respect His authority. We teach that Jesus is the only way to God because that is exactly is what Jesus and His apostles taught (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). We have no earthly headquarters because Christ has not authorized these.

The Gospel For All

We proclaim the message of the crucified and risen Lord (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). We urge all to accept God’s gift of eternal life in His Son (Romans 6:23).

To whom does God give salvation? To those who:

  • Believe in Jesus. Jesus is our savior and the one who gives eternal life. He is the way to Salvation (Acts 4:12), without Jesus, we have no hope.  As a result of our belief we will follow Jesus’ commands; and
  • Live by faith (Rom 1:17). Faith is trusting God by obeying Him, though we cannot always see with our eyes the rewards for that obedience in this life (Hebrews Chapter 11 gives examples of people who lived by faith. What they did demonstrated their faith); and
  • Obey the gospel (2 Thess 1:8, Rom 10:16). The gospel is that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried and He arose again the third day and was seen (1 Corinthians 15:1-15). How do we obey the gospel? It requires genuine obedience from the heart (Romans 6:17), repentance (Acts 2:38) and being buried into his death (Romans 6:3-4), by being baptized (immersed in water) into Christ for forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38); and
  • Continue living a life of faithful service to Christ (Revelation 2:10), living by the spirit not the deeds of the flesh (Rom 8:13), not living in spiritual darkness (1 John 1:6-7).

Baptism is symbolic for the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (the gospel). It’s purpose is not just to show others that we are followers of Christ, but to fulfill Christ’s commands for us (Mark 16:16), it is for the washing away of our sins (Acts 22:16) and to save us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Pet 3:20-21). Some will ask ‘does someone need to be baptized to be saved’, why not ask, “if I want to follow Jesus, why wouldn’t I want to be baptized and obey what He says”.

There are many other wonderful teachings about life that a Christian can learn from God’s word – love, service, kindness, patience and many more. Come and join us as we regularly meet to study God’s word and learn these lessons.

What to Expect Should You Visit

All visitors are treated with respect and made to feel welcome. In keeping with our effort to carefully follow the Bible, our worship consists only of those activities authorized by command or example in the New Testament.

On Sunday, the first day of the week, we meet to:

  • Praise God and edify one another through singing (Colossians 3:16)
  • Offer prayers and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1,2)
  • Observe the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of our Savior’s death (1 Corinthians 11:24-26; Acts 20:7)
  • Take up a collection (1 Corinthians 16:1-2) so members can give as they have purposed in their heart (2 Corinthians 9:7). As a visitor, you are a guest, so please do not feel under any obligation to give.
  • Continually devote ourselves “to the apostles’ teaching” (Acts 2:42) which is written in Scripture (2 Tim 3:15-16).
